Gabrielle Ray – See See – The Daily Mirror – Thursday 21st June 1906

“ SEE-SEE.”

Comic Opera in Place of Musical Comedy at the

Prince of Wales’s.

“See-See,” produced at the Prince of Wales’s Theatre last night, is fairly pretty, fairly amusing, fairly interesting, fairly well acted and sung.

A little more variety in the music, a better part for Mr. Huntley Wright, a larger number of smart sayings in Mr. Brookfield’s dialogue, would help it on a great deal. No doubt Mr. Edwardes will supply all these deficiencies without delay. Then the piece will be a capital entertainment.

Miss Denise Orme is a tuneful See-See, and Miss Gabrielle Ray a pretty boy servant.

Gabrielle Ray – See See – The Manchester Evening News – Thursday 21st June 1906

New Chinese Comic Opera.

Mr. George Edwardes is to be congratulated on scoring yet another success with “See- See,” an elaborately staged play with China as its locale, which was produced before a full house at the Prince of Wales’s Theatre last night. No effort has spared in providing picturesque scenery and magnificent dresses. The music and songs, too, are excellent, one song in particular, “The Slave,” sung by Mr. Huntley Wright, describing the woes of the British slaves – slaves to fashion, slaves to golf, &c – receiving a tremendous reception. The play is in the hands of a capable company, which includes Miss Demise Orme, Miss Gabrielle Ray, Miss Lily Elsie, the Misses Amy and Adrienne Augarde, Messrs. Maurice Farkoa, H. Berry, and Fred Emney.
