Mr. George Edwardes did a bold thing when he set an almost unknown actress to play the name part in “The Merry Widow,” but he was as wise as he was bold. From the very first moment Miss Elsie charmed everyone, and her delightful personality has contributed in not small measure to the phenomenal success of the play.
