      • They were certainly a bit more blunt than today’s equivalents. However, I think the way things are advertised towards women hasn’t really changed that much. You still have the pattern of making feel women guilty about their imperfections, convince them that there’s something wrong with them and use suggested peer pressure and/or the voice of scientific authority to offer a “solution”. Fundamentally there’s probably not that much of a difference between those Laxo pills and many of today’s health foods or supplements. I have to admit myself that sometimes I think that maybe this kind of food or that kind of beauty product or whatever might actually be good for my weight/skin/hair/mood.
