A Season of Successes

The autumn theatrical season has, so far proved exceptionally successful. Among the great number of new productions this month, not one failure is to be recorded. Whether the superior person approves the theatrical fare at present offered or no, he must admit managers have hit the mark with their policy of providing the public with light entertainments rather than serious plays. Revues do best of all. At the Hippodrome, where “Flying Colours” was to be a stop-gap, the attendances have been so large that Moss’s Empires have decided to run the piece through the winter. The Gaiety is also doing big business with “Theodore and Co.” The same management controls the Queen’s Theatre, where the new Potash and Perlmutter” bids fair to have as long a run as its predecessor. Mr. H. B. Irving’s Barrie revival of “The Professor’s Love Story” at the Savoy proves to the public’s liking. “Chu Chin Chow” at his Majesty’s has caught on while “The Old Country” at Wyndham’s and “The Misleading Lady” at the Playhouse are also autumn attractions to theatre-goers.
