Gabrielle Ray

'Gabrielle Ray said, 'I am always dancing; I love it! When I don't dance, I sing. What else is there to do?'

Every once in a while a real gem can be discovered when searching for articles or publications that mention Miss Ray; although it is disappointing that they are few and far between.

When I found this publication I was excited although dubious of their claim of “High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles!” My initial excitement quickly turned to disappointment when I discovered that from the book’s 120 pages the authors could only manage approximately five full pages dedicated to Miss Ray.

The general content of the book is interesting and informative about her fellow actors / actresses, the Edwardian period and Holloway Sanatorium; however there was nothing about her actress sister or that she also died in a psychiatric institution, no pictures of her blue plaque or that she was the first female Stopfordian recipient of this award, no mention of her final resting place and little information about her earlier and later appearences.

Sadly the authors, Russell and Cohn, instead of making Miss Ray the star of their production relegated her to the chorus line almost as an afterthought in their mediocre publication.
