Gabrielle Ray

'Gabrielle Ray said, 'I am always dancing; I love it! When I don't dance, I sing. What else is there to do?'

Gabrielle Ray – The Belle of New York – Examiner (Launceston) – 1931

Tasmanian’s Success

It is pleasing to hear of the success of another Tasmanian in England. The “London Daily Express”, of July 10, 1931, contains a pleasing reference to Miss Molly Fisher, a former Tasmanian who appears in the “Belle of New York”, which has been proving very popular in the suburbs. The paragraph reads:- “Much of the popularity is due, I think, to pretty little Miss Molly Fisher, who plays Mamie, and who comes to us fresh from Australia at the age of 19. Mr Bannister Howard says she is the only girl he had ever seen who can equal the famous back kick created by Gabrielle ray. I hope she stays here for years.”
